Saturation excess overland flow
Initial volumes of surface water input are typically infiltrated by the soil. If water input has occurred for enough time, however, the soil may be fully saturated and lack capacity to absorb additional water. Here, the water input is occurring on the saturated lawn and excess water flows across the vegetated surface onto the pavement. Water on the driveway is the result of runoff from the location of surface water input.
